Karishma Tanna is an Indian TV and film actress, TV host, and model. She is best known for her role as Indu in the very popular Balaji Telefilms soap opera ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.’
Career
Tanna began her career with the role of ‘Indu’ in the serial ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ which she played from July 2000 to November 2008. Other serials that she acted in include Kahi To Milenge, Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, Viraasat, Baal Veer, and Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, etc. She played the lead female role in the serial ‘Koi Dil Mein Hai.’
The 5’9″ tall beauty has participated in varied TV reality shows such as Nach Baliye 7, Comedy Circus Maha-Sangram, etc. She was the 1st runner up in the reality television show Bigg Boss 8 and was the host of varied shows including ‘India’s Magic Star,’ etc., and is the current host of MTV’s show Love School. She made her stage debut in 2006 with the Vandana Sajnani directed play ‘Perfect Wedding.’ Karishma has also done many TV commercials for varied brands like Lifebuoy, Stayfree, and Nirma.
Karishma made her acting debut in Bollywood in 2005 as ‘Nandini Thapar’ in the movie ‘Dosti: Friends Forever.’ She then played the role of ‘Shalini’ in the movie ‘Golu Aur Pappu’ and appeared as ‘Unatti’ in the 2013 blockbuster movie ‘Grand Masti. She was also cast as the heroine in a Kannada movie ‘I Am Sorry Mathe Banni Preethsona.’ She is currently filming for the movie ‘Tina and Lolo’ and plays the character of Lolo. The role was initially given to Minissha Lamba but she declined it as the character Lolo had a kissing scene with actress ‘Sunny Leone.’
Personal Life and Trivia
- Karishma was born on 21 December 1984 into a Gujarati family in Mumbai. She was attending Syndenham College in Mumbai when she was offered the role of Indu.
- Tanna was previously dating Rushabh Choksi, a restaurateur. She is currently in a relationship with Upen Patel whom she met during season 8 of Bigg Boss. Though both Upen and Karishma have been going on famously with a moniker ‘Upma’ attached to their names, they have not settled on a marriage date.
