Katrina Kaif was born on 16thJuly 1983 in British Hong Kong to Suzanne/SusannaTurquotte, an English charity worker and lawyer, and Mohammed Kaif, a Kashmiri-descent British businessman. The parents divorced when she was just a child and her father moved to the US. Kaif has not been in touch with her father. Katrina has 6 sisters and 1 brother. Her younger sister Isabel Kaif is also an actress and model.
Katrina’s mother’s charity work resulted in the family moving and living all across the world. Katrina Kaif in an interview, said that she was 8 years old when the Berlin Wall fell, which was in 1989. In other words, her birth year would be 1981. Career
Katrina won a beauty contest at age 14 in Hawaii and subsequently modelled for a jewelry company. She then relocated to London, worked for freelance agencies, modelled professionally, and was a regular at the London Fashion Week. This is where she was noticed by Kaizad and he subsequently offered her a role in ‘Boom’.
While working in Boom she was offered endorsement deals for varied products and brands. Hence, she decided to stay back in India. Boom was a commercial and critical failure and Kaif was criticized for her action and lack of Hindi diction. She then worked in hit Telugu movie Malliswari and had a minor role in the film ‘Sarkar’.
Her first real acting job in Bollywood came in the film ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’ where she was one of the lead characters alongside Sushmita Sen, Salman Khan, and Sohail Khan.
