Aamir Khan unveiled the poster of his movie ‘ Dangal’ on September 21, 2015, The shooting for the movie commenced on the same date and the movie is due to release on December 23, 2016.
Flush from the stupendous success of PK, which is India’s highest grossing movie till date, the laser-focused Aamir Khan finally zeroed on an Indian biographical sports movie ‘Dangal’ that is directed by Nitesh Tiwari (of Chillar Party and Bhootnath Returns fame). The movie is produced by Disney Studio India. Mukesh Chabbra was the casting director for the film.
Aamir Khan plays the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, the man who taught wrestling to his daughters, Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. The wrestler hails from Balali Village in Biwani, Haryana.While Geeta became the first Indian female wrestler to win the 2010 Commonwealth Games (Gold Medal), Babita won the Silver.
Aamir Khan even interviewed them on an episode on ‘Gender Equality’ for sports on Satyameva Jayate.
