Deepika Padukone – Upcoming Movies in 2019, 2020

Deepika Padukone has had as perfect a year as anyone could hope for! She began 2018 by delivering one of the biggest hits of the year in Padmaavat and ended it by getting hitched to the newest superstar of Bollywood Ranveer Singh. No one could have written a better life script for the highest paid Indian actress, than what panned out for her in 2018. She was even named by Time Magazine in their 2018 list of ‘100 most influential people in the world’.

Deepika had just one film release in 2018, i.e., Padmaavat, and it has been one of the top grossing Bollywood movies of all time. She played the role of a Rajput Queen in the film and her performance was praised by critics. Made on a budget of around INR 150-200 crores, the film made INR 550+ crores at the box office. It remained the top grosser of 2018, till it was beaten by a slim margin by the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Sanju’. She also made a brief appearance as herself in the Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Zero’.

Later in the year, Padukone had a grand wedding in November 2018 at Lake Como, Italy. The marriage ceremony was conducted in both traditional Sindhi and Konkani styles. The pictures of the destination wedding are there for all to see, admire, and feel jealous!

As of Jan 2019, there are no films starring Deepika that are scheduled to release in the year. She is however going to reprise her role as Serena Unger in the 4th chapter of the Vin Diesel starring xXx film series. She has also signed on to play the role of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor, in the Meghna Gulzar directed biopic Chhapaak. This movie will mark her foray into film production as well.

It was rumored that Deepika will play a small part as Romi Dev, the wife of Kapil Dev, in the Ranveer Singh film ’83.  But she declined because the role did not provide any substantial footage for a major heroine, because the movie is all about the 11 boys who bring home the cup.The Kapil Dev biopic is slated to release in theaters in 2020.
