Kriti Sanon debuted in 2014 opposite Tiger Shroff in the movie ‘Heropanti’. It was only in 2017 that she proved that she could act with a good performance in the sleeper hit ‘Bareilly ki Barfi’. But her career has still not really picked up, as she delivered a super flop in the same year, in the form of Raabta. In 2018, her special appearance in the song for the movie ‘Stree’ went viral on YouTube but it was not included in the film.
Kriti Sanon however has her hands full for 2019.
First up is Luka Chuppi, where she and Kartik Aryan play TV journalists. The movie is set in Mathura and has a strong supporting cast, which includes Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak and Aparshakti Khurana. The film is set to release on March 1, 2019.
Kriti Sanon’s second release of the year is Kalank, where she is a part of the multi-star cast which includes the likes of Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kunal Khemu, and Kiara Advani.
The third one is Arjun Patalia, a story about a tall woman falling in love with a short man. The height difference is a major part of the plot, that brings in the situational humor. Ironically, Kriti Sanon plays a journalist in the film too. She is paired opposite Diljit Dosanjh. The movie also has a cameo role by Sunny Leone. Arjun Patiala released on May 3, 2019.
The fourth film of Kriti Sanon that will release in 2019, is Housefull 4. The movie is geared for a Diwali release, October 19, 2015. The cast includes another Kriti, Kriti Kharbanda, Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Rana Dagubatti, Pooja Hegde, Chunky Pandey, Niketan Dheer, Johnny Lever among others. As we know, Sajid Khan and Nana Patekar were a part of the film, as director and supporting actor respectively, but the quit the film, following the #Metoo accusations that were unleashed against them, in the wake of allegations by Tanushree Dutta and other actresses. Nana Patekar was replaced by Rana Dagubatti and Farhad Samji stepped in for Sajid Khan. According to producer Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 4 is the highest budgeted Indian comedy, ever.
Finally on December 6, 2019 is the magnum opus ‘Panipat’ based on the Third Battle of Panipat. This movie is directed by India’s Oscar nominated and National Award winning director, Ashutosh Gowaiker. The movie has Sanjay Dutt playing Ahmed Shah Abdali, Arjun Kapoor as Maratha Senapati Sadashiv Rao Bhau. Kriti Sanon plays the role of his wife Parvati Bai. The other cast members include Padmini Kolhapure and Mohnish Bhal.
