Commuters travelling through the Mumbai local were in for a mega surprise as Bollywood’s biggest movie star Amitabh Bachchan slipped in along with the crowd, on the train ride from CST to Bhandup. Among the many who were pleasantly surprised was Saurabh Nimbkar who featured in ‘AAJ Ki Raat Zindagi’ on Star Plus.
Saurabh is known to strum his guitar and regale commuters by his music, in order to raise money for cancer patients. His happiness knew no bounds when he was accompanied by an impromptu entry into the local train by Amitabh Bachchan who clapped and sang along with him. The other commuters in the train were equally delighted and couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the movie star in their midst.
Amitabh Bachchan gave a live rendition of ‘Rang Barse’ from his movie ‘Silsila’. The hashtag #BigBAurHeroKaSafar began trending quickly on Twitter following Amitabh’s impromptu train ride, with many retweeting and sharing the pictures on social media.
Amitabh Bachchan shared his experience on the blog,
“Saurabh Nimbkar, sitting to my left in the picture, that came on our show #AKRHZ .. plays the guitar and sings on local trains and collects the meagre money he gets from co passengers, to distribute to the less fortunate cancer patients and their families, in the city .. his story was heart breaking .. I felt I would want to sit by him and travel the distance he does, do what he does, in a show of support and spirit for his incredible thinking.”
Big B reiterated that he did not look at this exercise as a publicity stunt. He wrote, “The idea is not to create a splash among the media, or to create credible content for them, or for the subsequent promotion of the show #AKRHZ .. the idea is to let him know that he is not alone .. that he is appreciated .. that our support runs even after he departs from the Show .. to hope that many others would feel the same way as we did when we heard his story .. and perhaps that it may sufficiently light a small flame of hope for many other deeds that need to be done ..,” he wrote. “
He also added, “It was executed quietly without Saurabh’s knowledge .. as a surprise for him and for the many that travel daily with him ..”
