Diana Penty is a popular Indian film actress who is known primarily for her work in ‘Bollywood’, the Indian Hindi Film Industry. Penty is also one of the most successful models in India, having started her career in 2005 after being signed by the prestigious Parisian chain modelling agency, Elite Models in its India chapter. Penty established herself as one of the top models of the agency and went on to become the brand ambassador of international brands like Nokia, Maybelline, TRESemmé, Make My Trip etc.
Penty made her film debut in 2012 with the with Homi Adajania’s romantic comedy film ‘Cocktail’ which went on to become a commercial success and featured a hit music album. Penty garnered critical acclaim from the critics and also became a favourite with the audience. She received nominations for best female debut across several Bollywood award functions, including a Filmfare nomination and was felicitated with a Vogue Beauty Award and a UK Bollywood Cosmopolitan Awards.

Early Life and Education
Penty was born on 2 November 1985, in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India as the only child of a Christian mother, Noreen and a Parsi Zoroastrian father Rohinton Penty. Both her parents had jobs as executives with her father serving as an airport cargo employee and her mother as a company executive.
Penty studied at St. Agnes High School in the Byculla neighbourhood of Mumbai from where she completed her matriculation. She later attended St. Xavier’s College, University of Mumbai from where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media and Communication. Penty pursued modelling as a part time hobby as a college student and began receiving film offers as early as in 2008.
Penty lost her father to Kidney failure a few years ago.

Career Rise
Penty started modelling with Elite Models India officially in 2005 and debuted on the runway with the Indo-Italian Festival, walking the ramp for Italian designers Gianfranco Ferré and Nicola Trussardi. She also modelled for high profile Indian designers Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal and Wendell Rodricks. By 2007 Penty had become a big name in the Indian modelling circuit and soon appeared in print ad campaigns for prominent Indian brands like Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri, Westside and Parachute and also featured on the cover of several fashion magazines. In 2008, Penty was named the brand ambassador of global brands like Garnier, Forever 21 and Maybelline. She also started receiving film offers in 2008 but continued to walk the runway at Paris and New York Fashion weeks.
Penty made her silver-screen debut in 2012 with Homi Adajania’s ‘Cocktail’ starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, in which she essayed the character of Meera, which was applauded by Critics. The film featured a chart-topping music album and although it received mixed reviews, it was declared a box office hit. She received several nominations for Best female debut at multiple Bollywood award functions. Penty did not appear in any movies for the next four years and made a comeback with the 2016 film ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’ featuring Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Deol and Ali Fazal. The film became a sleeper-hit. Penty is slated to appear in 2 films by late 2017; Nikhil Advani’s ‘Lucknow Central’ opposite Farhan Akhtar and Abhishek Sharma’s ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ opposite John Abraham.

Penty was involved in a romantic relationship with Harsh Sagar, a diamond merchant based in Mumbai for several years. There were also speculations that the couple were to be engaged soon. Although Penty acknowledged her relationship with Sagar, she refuted all rumours about a possible engagement. The couple broke up after three years of dating.
