Amrita Rao is an Indian film actress and model. She has made her appearances in several south-Indian films, as well as bagged many important roles in Bollywood. Sooraj Barjatiya directed Vivah (2006) was one of the most important movies of Amrita Rao.
Early Life and background
Amrita Rao was born in a very conservative and traditional family on 7th June 1981. Her sister Preetika Rao is also a model cum actress. Her father Deepak Rao is the owner of an advertising agency. Rao earned a degree in psychology from Sophia College. During her college days Amrita acted in numerous commercial ads. Later, she moved on to pursue her career as an actress in Bollywood movies.
Career and achievements
Amrita started her film career with Ab ke Baras, for which she was nominated for the best debut award female in the Filmfare 2003. Other films like Ishq Vishk, Main Hoon Na are some of her greatest hits. Rao’s acting in Vivah not only earned her huge credit but also she was nominated for the best actress catgory at the 13th Start screen award. Amrita is also a renowned face in South. Amrita proved her capability in Telegu action film Athidi. She was critically acclaimed and was praised by Sify saying “she could be yet another native girl for Tollywood”. Rao has bagged many awards like IIFA Awards, Stardust Awards and Sansui awards.
The cherubic actress made her TV debut in 2016 with ‘Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai’, a TV series based on music and sibling rivalry, on ‘And TV’.
Amrita Rao’s Husband – RJ Anmol
The 1.65 meter tall Amrita has never been open about her personal life. Recently, Rao tied the knot with her long-term boyfriend RJ Anmol on May 15th 2016. They were in a relationship since the past seven years. The couple had a low-key wedding and announced to host a bigger celebration later. Rumours however state that the couple had got married earlier and it was only now that they declared it publicly. The duo has moved into their new apartment in Vakola, after marriage.
The stylish RJ Anmol is known to be a trend-setter when it comes to hosting radio shows. His show ‘ Purani Jeans’ is one of the most popular shows on radio in India. He is known for his wit, sense of humor and easy interaction with listeners. Amrita quoted in media that she was lucky to find a soulmate like Anmol.

Amrita had been living with her parents in Versova. She will now start living with her spouse in their own pad at Vakola.
