Early Life and Education
Talwar was born on 22 December 1992 in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India in a Punjabi family with roots in Delhi. She is the daughter of Suman Talwar and Narsimha Enterprises executive producer Vinod Talwar, working for producer BoneyKapoor. She has one sibling, a brother named Vikas Talwaar.
Talwar was raised in Mumbai from where she completed her primary and secondary education. She completed her matriculation and enrolled into St. Xavier’s college, Mumbai from where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Talwar attended Terence Lewis’ dance academy from where she studied various dance forms such as hip-hop, jazz, ballet, salsa etc and considers Lewis as her mentor.
Career Rise
Talwar debuted as a child artiste in the 2000 film ‘Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hain’ starring Aishwarya Rai and Anil Kapoor, where she played the role of Rai’s younger sister. Soon after graduation, Talwar embarked upon a career in modelling and appeared in over 40 commercial advertisements including Pizza Hut, Dulux Paints, Vivel Fairness Cream among others. She also appeared in a music video featuring actor Hrithik Roshan for the reality dance competition show Just Dance. Talwar made her silver screen debut as a lead actress in 2012 with the Malayalam language film ‘Thattathin Marayathu’, after undergoing voice training and language coaching for four months, while also learning to play the guitar. She portrayed the character of a Muslim girl named Aisha who falls for a Hindu boy and received critical and commercial success for her work. She next appeared in B. Unnikrishnans ‘I Love Me’ starring Asif Ali and Unni Mukundan.
Talwar made her Telegu and Tamil debut in 2013 with the films ‘Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde’ and ‘Thillu Mullu’ repevctively, both of which were commercially successful, with Talwar also receiving critical acclaim. She appeared in 4 Malayalam films in 2014 including ‘Balyakalasakhi’, ‘Ulsaha Committee’, ‘God’s Own Country’ and ‘Bangalore Days’. Her releases in the next two years include ‘Bhaskar the Rascal’, ‘Two Countries’, ‘Raja Cheyyi Vesthe’, and ‘Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai’.
