Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar is a famous Indian television actress who is known for her work in popular Indian Hindi language soap-operas like ‘Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur’ and ‘Sanskaar- Dharohar Apno Ki’, both of which aired on Viacom Network’s Colors TV. Wayagankar recently appeared in the controversial Sony Entertainment Television soap opera ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’.
Wayagankar made her acting debut in 2012 when she was cast in the Star Network’s Life OK series ‘2612/2613’. Although, the show enjoyed a brief run, Wayagankar started gaining popularity and was soon cast as the female lead on the Color’s soap opera ‘Sanskaar- Dharohar Apno Ki’. She then went on to receive the biggest role of her career, playing Ragini Suryavanshi in yet another Color’s popular show ‘Swaragini– Jodein Rishton Ke Sur’, which made her a household name.

Early Life and Education
Wayagankar was born in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on 10th June 1992 as the daughter of Indian parents, renowned Dubai based singer Prakash Wayagankar and his wife, who is a homemaker. Although she was born in Saudi Arabia, Wayagankar holds Indian Citizenship and was raised by her parents in Mumbai, Maharashtra India, in a Maharashtrian family along with her sibling, an older brother named Pratik.
Wayagankar was raised in Goregaon, a suburb in Mumbai and completed her primary, secondary and matriculation education from a school in the suburb. She also completed her Higher secondary certificate and later studied engineering. Wayagankar graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering from Mumbai University but pursued a career in acting with the encouragement of her singer father.
Career Rise
Wayagankar made her acting debut, portraying the lead character of Rashmi Raju Bhargava in the Life OK TV show 2612/2613 which was inspired by the November 26, 2011 terror attacks that hit Mumbai City and left many victims in its aftermath. The show was a critically applauded finite episode series and resulted in Wayagankar receiving the offer to star in the Color’s TV drama ‘‘Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki’ in its second seaon, in which she portrayed the docile Dhara Jai Kishen Vaishnav, which featured veteran actress Aruna Irani in a prominent role. After the show wrapped up, Wayagankar was again cast as the parallel lead in the soap opera ‘Swaragini-Jodein Rishton Ke Sur’ in which she essayed protagonist turned antagonist. The show aired daily on weekdays from May 2015 to December 2016, earning Wayagankar nominations at several Indian television award shows.
Wayagankar also appeared on the popular Indian comedy shows ‘Comedy Nights Live’ and ‘Comedy Night Bachao’ and was soon cast as the lead on yet another show, ‘Pehredaar Piya Ki’ that went on air on Sony Entertainment Television in June 2017. Wayagankar essayed the role of Diya Ratan Singh, the 18-year-old wife of a 9 year old boy. The show’s explicit content drew in a lot of flak and was criticized for promoting child marriage, one of the biggest social-evils in India. Following a petition from Change.org, the show was taken off air, abruptly in August 2017, after being on air and the focus of controversy for two months.

Wayagankar is a private person and has divulged no details of her personal life with the media. She is unmarried and there are no reports of her being romantically involved with anyone
Wayagankar was trained to play the Sitar by her musician father Prakash Wayagankar and is also a classical singer. She claims to practice her classical singing every-day. Wayagankar received a Maruti Suzuki Estillo car as an 18th birthday present from her parents.
