Manushi Chhillar is an Indian model winner of Femina Miss India 2017 beauty contest. On 18th Nov, 2017, she was crowned as Miss World 2017 in the beautiful city of Sanya in China.
The last winner of the Miss World title was actress Priyanka Chopra who won it 17 years ago in the year 2017. The 1.75 meter tall beauty is the sixth Indian to be crowned Miss World.

Family and Education
Chhillar was born into a well-educated family in Haryana on May 14, 1997.
Dr. Neelam Chhillar, her mother, works as an associate professor and is head of department at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences. Her father Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar is a scientist at the government run Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Chhillar went to New Delhi’s St. Thomas’ School and later enrolled at Sonipat’s the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women for a degree in medicine. Manushi is currently on leave from her studies as she had to prepare for the beauty pageants.
Manushi and Beauty Pageants
Chhillar enrolled for the Femina Miss India 2017 contest in June 2017. She represented Haryana state. On the way to winning the title, she also received the ‘Miss Photogenic’ crown.
At the Miss World pageant, Chhillar was a semifinalist in Multimedia, People’s Choice, and Top Model competitions. She was also a co-winner in the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ competition. Her ‘Project Shakti’ campaign for this competition dealt with increasing awareness about menstrual health and hygiene. Towards this end, Manushi visited nearly 20 villages and offered treatment to over five thousand women.
Manushi was one of the five finalists at the 2017 Miss World Pageant. In the ‘Question and Answer’ round she was asked which profession, in her opinion, should get the highest salary and why. Her answer was that mothers make huge sacrifices throughout their life for the well-being of their children. Hence, mothers deserve the highest salary.

She belongs to the ‘jat’ caste. In fact, Chhillar is a ‘gotra’ title of Jat caste. Though she is from Haryana, a majority of Chhillar Jats hail from Rajasthan.
Trivia
• Chhillar is a trained dancer in Kuchipudi. She was taught by renowned dance masters Raja, Kaushalya Reddy, and Radha Reddy. Manushi is also a poet and has received training in classical singing. She has even attended the well known National School of Drama.
• Manushi will continue her medical studies after her duties as Miss World are over. She eventually wants to become a cardiac surgeon. Her dream is to start non-profit health centers and hospitals in rural towns and villages.
• The personal life mottos of Chhillar are listed on her website. A few of them are ‘Do not stop dreaming as doing so is equivalent to stopping living’ and ‘Have the courage to believe in your dreams, give your dreams the wings to fly and take off, and this will make life truly worth living.’
• Manushi is fond of adventure sports. She loves outdoor thrilling activities like scuba diving, bungee jumping, and snorkeling.
