Priyanka Chopra had her dream wedding in 2018 and there could be no other thing, personally or professionally, that can outdo that wondrous event. The 36 year old beauty got engaged to singer Nick Jonas in August 2018 in Mumbai in a Roka Ceremony. The couple then had a grand wedding in traditional Christian and Hindu ceremonies at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in December 2018.
After the wedding, Chopra and her beau rang in the New Year with their families in Switzerland. In Jan 2019, the couple flew to the Caribbean for their honeymoon.
On the professional front, 2018 was not that great a year for Priyanka. She featured in the Jim Parsons starring movie ‘A Kid Like Jake’ which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. She was appreciated for her acting, but critics felt that her character in the film added little value to the movie. She also hosted the YouTube original series ‘If I Could Tell You Just One Thing’ and appeared as herself in Harper’s Bazaar’s mini-series ‘The Black Book Of Wellness with Priyanka Chopra’.
Chopra was also slated to appear opposite Salman Khan in the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Bharat’ but she opted out of it before filming began due to her engagement with Nick. One of the producers of the film called her unprofessional when she left the movie.
Happiness on the personal front is most probably going to translate into happiness and monetary gains in the professional arena for Chopra in 2019. She has finished shooting for the romantic comedy ‘Isn’t It Romantic’ starring Liam Hemsworth, Adam DeVine, and Rebel Wilson. The movie will release on Valentine’s Day 2019 in the theaters in the US and on Netflix in the UK. Priyanka will also be seen opposite Farhan Akhtar in the Shonali Bose directed biographical drama movie ‘The Sky Is Pink’. She will play the role of the mother of teenage motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who passed away due to pulmonary fibrosis.
Other film commitments of Chopra include a starring role opposite Chris Pratt in the upcoming action flick ‘Cowboy Ninja Viking’ and as lawyer Vanita Gupta in the courtroom drama movie ‘Tulia’. She is also working as executive producer towards creating a sitcom for ABC which will be based on the life of actress Madhuri Dixit. Additionally, she will be producing numerous regional language movies in India via her production company ‘Purple Pebble Pictures’.
Priyanka has some good news for readers as well. She will be releasing her memoir ‘Unfinished’ in 2019. The book will be released in India by Penguin Books, by Michael Joseph in the UK, and by Ballantine Books in the US.
