Sidharth Malhotra is a Bollywood actor who started his career with modeling at the age of 19. He quit modeling in the year 2010 and assisted Bollywood director Karan Johar for the film “My Name Is Khan”. He later appeared in Karan Johar’s “Student of the year” making his acting debut in a leading role. The movie, a comedy drama was a commercial success. Malhotra also received a Filmfare Award for the Best Male Debut nomination. He has been receiving a positive response for his roles in other films such as Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), Ek Villain (2014) and Brothers(2015). He has worked a lot of big bollywood stars and has been versatile in choosing the films from romantic comedies such as Hasee to Phasee to action packed movies like Brothers.
He was born to Punjabi parents in Delhi. His father is an Ex employee of the Indian Merchant Navy, and mother, a homemaker. After attending Delhi’s Don Bosco School, he attended Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. Even though he started his career as a model by choice, he couldn’t stick to it for long. Being dissatisfied with the profession he auditioned for several roles and even landed up a role in a movie to be directed by Anubhav Sinha. He was about to quit but finally found a golden opportunity, when he got a chance to work as an assistant director with Karan Johar for the film ‘My Name Is Khan’. KJO was impressed with Sidharth and offered him a parallel lead role with another debutant Varun Dhawan for his ambitious ‘Student of the Year’.
For his first film ‘Student of the year’, Sidharth received a decent response from Film critics like Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN. The movie was also successful financially earning over ₹700 million domestically.
Sidharth considers him a Punjabi by heart and is a real foodie. However he has always been very particular about his diet and workout plans. The actor also has a dog and named ‘Oscar’. He is also a curious shopper and browses various shopping portals for buying clothes, accessories and shoes online.

If rumors are to be believed, Sidharth is dating Alia Bhatt. They have also been spotted together several times but haven’t publically accepted their relationship. They however maintain a status of being good friends. He is also a Sports Freak and is passionate about playing some sports. He has asserted in many interviews that if he doesn’t play anything he gets restless as it’s the only way to productively release emotions and negative energy. He believes that his dog Oscar has more stamina than him.

The 1. 83 meter tall actor will soon be spotted romancing Katrina Kaif in the movie “Baar Baar Dekho”. It is a co-production of Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar and Ritesh Sidhwani, directed by Nitya Mehra , scheduled for release on September 9, 2016.
He will also be seen in the movie ‘Kapoor and Sons’ produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shakun Batra. The movie co-stars Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan.
Other than acting, the Punjabi boy also promotes brands like Coca-Cola and American Swan. He has also been involved in some charity work. In the year 2013, he performed at an event with other actors like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Huma Qureshi for raising funds for the flood-affected victims of Uttarakhand. He has also been involved with PETA.
