Pratyusha Banerjee, the actress who played the roleof ‘Anandi in Balika Vadhu actress committed suicide on April 1, 2016. Her promising career peppered by the iconic TV serial role, along with appearances in Bigg Boss 7 and roles in serials like ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, ‘Kukum Bhagya’ and ‘Power Couple’ were cut short by an extreme step on her part. She hanged herself to death in her residence She was taken to Kokilaben Hospital AT 6.30 pm by her boyfriend, when she was declared dead.
Pratyusha was born on August 10, 1982 in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). She started her career as ‘Anandi’ in the serial. She was also one of the contestants in Bigg Boss 7 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5. She had also signed as a co-host with Hiten Tejwani to host a section of the reality show ‘Savdhaan India’. She also acted in programs like ‘Sasuraj Simar Ka’ , ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, ‘Aahat’ and Power Couple’. She was also shooting for the serial ‘Mann Mein Hain Vishwas 2’
Pratyusha Banerjee – Suicide Reason
It is believed that the cause of death is depression over her relationship with boyfriend, producer Rahul Raj Singh. It was believed that the two were going to be married. It may be recalled that Pratyusha had earlier had a strained relationship with her previous boyfriend Makrand Malhotra, which had spiraled into a police complaint. Later, she had participated into Bigg Boss 7 and had acted in a few more serials before she met Rahul Raj Singh. Apparently, the families of the two had met and it was decided that the two would marry.
A few months ago, Pratyusha Banerjee had also filed a police complaint against a few people include some policemen for barging into her house and behaving in an inappropriate manner, because Rahul Raj Singh had defaulted in his car loan payments.
A friend on the basis of of anonymity disclosed that she has been living with Rahul for more than a year, before he walked out on her. He added that she took the drastic step due to mounting financial pressures. She had borrowed a lot of money from friends in the industry and was finding it tough to pay the debts back, as well as cough up the EMI amount.

Incidentally in Bigg Boss 7, the face-reader Pandit Janardhan, stated that Pratyusha would marry in the age of 32, and that too to a good looking actor. But she died at a young age of 24. Pratyusha Banerjee’s last Whatsapp status was ‘Marke bhi muh na tuzse modana” with a smiley.’
