Early Life and Career
Jasleen was born on April 4, 1990 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Jaspreet Matharu and Kesar Matharu. Her father is a film director. Her family is from Khanna village, located in Punjab’s Ludhiana district.
Jasleen began receiving training in classical and western music since she was 11 years old. She won the ‘Best Female Singer’ award at age 16 years in an inter-collegiate competition. She has also received training in varied dance forms like Bharatnatyam, belly dancing, hip-hop, and salsa.
Jasleen has been a part of many live performances on stage. She has sung with many well known singers like Mika, Amjad Khan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Papon, etc. As a solo singer, she has released her debut album called “Love Day Love Day”. In 2013, she made her debut as an actress in the film ‘The Dirty Relation’ directed by Kesar Matharu, her father.
Bigg Boss Season 12
- Jasleen entered the Bigg Boss 12 house as a vichitrajodi in the company of her boyfriend Anup Jalota. The bhajan singer is 37 years older than Jasleen and their relationship came as a shock for everyone.
- The couple has been dating for 3 ½ years. They were however never seen together as they rarely had time to be with one another due to their individual busy work schedules.
- Jalota has stated that he and Jasleen were live-in partners, girlfriend-boyfriend, as well as normal friends. Jasleen has however refused to attach a label to their relationship.
- In the Bigg Boss house, Jasleen chose a single bed to sleep and asked Jalota to take a separate bed.
- Kesar Matharu was also surprised by the revelation of her daughter’s relationship with Jalota. He has however refused to make a comment and has stated that he will do so only after Jasleen comes out of the house and he meets her personally. He wished her all the luck in the house and wants her to be the winner of Bigg Boss 12.
